The Purpose of United methodist women

The United Methodist Women shall be a community of women

whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom

as whole persons through Jesus Christ;

to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

  • Reading Program

    The United Methodist Women prints a flyer each year listing books under the categories of Spiritual Growth, Education for Mission, Nurturing for Community, and Social Action. There are four different Reading Plans you can participate in.  Books must be chosen from the UMW Reading Lists.  You can learn more about the program and download current reading lists on the UMW Reading Program Resources page.

  • UNIT meetings

    Meetings are held in Johnson Hall the second Wednesday of each month at 9:30 am except June, July and August.  Meetings include devotions, business and either a continental breakfast or lunch which is potluck or catered.

  • lydia circle mission study group

    Lydia Circle Mission Study Group meets on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 9:30 am in the Fireside Room or Johnson Hall.  They use various books and persons for their studies.  Leader is Ann Jenkins.

  • Winter circle study group

    Winter Circle Study Group meets the fourth Tuesday of the month at 2:00 pm in the Fireside room and uses the Upper Room for their study.  Leader is Marilyn Wilson.

  • knit and sew

    Knit and Sew meets every Tuesday 9 am-11 am in Johnson Hall.  Women of our church and other area churches crochet and knit sweaters, mittens, hats and afghans; sew children’s dresses, shorts quilts, toy animals receiving blankets, etc.  In 2015 they made 853 items.  All these items are given to local charity organizations.  Leader is Kate Tobinson.

  • prayer shawl ministry

    Prayer Shawl Ministry meets every Tuesday at 1:00 pm in the Fireside Room.  Shawls are knitted or crocheted for invalids and people in need of consolation.  They have made over 500 shawls since they began.
